SONG WEAVING: Songwriting workshop with Eliza Hull and MO’JU

Sat 10 October 2026 | 6 to 8pm | $35 | At Newstead Red Shed

For Teens (Aged 13 - 18y)

Calling the next crop of Australian songwriters!

Join us on festival eve at Newstead’s historic Red Shed (other side of the tracks from the Arts Hub) for an exclusive evening of songwriting with MO’JU and ELIZA HULL

Acclaimed songwriter, musician and disability advocate Eliza Hull and ARIA-nominated First Nations musician, songwriter and storyteller Mo’Ju share a hands-on songwriting workshop exploring how stories become songs.

Over two hours, the group will split into two smaller groups, working with each artist before coming together to share, collaborate and build on their ideas. Through prompts, lyric writing, rhythm, melody, hooks and song structure, participants will explore different ways to turn their own experiences and imagination into music.

No songwriting experience is necessary — just bring your ideas and curiosity. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have the beginnings of a song to take home and turn into a masterpiece. Young Writers under 16 must bring an adult (free companion ticket available).
